About Us
They used to label me a beer snob, a moniker that doesn’t sting as much these days. I didn’t start off this way, but after downing countless ounces of the same uninspiring brews back in the mid-2000s, I knew there had to be something more. Back then, the realm of craft beer was relatively uncharted, but I was on a mission to uncover its treasures. I sought out kindred spirits, slowly converting my friends and loved ones to the craft beer cause. I dabbled in home brewing—some attempts were delightful, while others, frankly, were disasters. Yet, through it all, I relished every moment. Now, having run out of friends to bring into the fold, I thought, why not spread that passion through a podcast? I genuinely hope you enjoy the show, but if not, I trust you at least enjoyed the beer. Cheers!
Nate made an early entrance into the show, infusing it with his distinctive taste for craft beer and a strong penchant for locally-sourced brews. This injection of diverse perspectives significantly enriched the show’s dynamic. Nate’s initial reservations toward barrel-aged and matured beers sparked compelling and often spirited discussions, becoming a catalyst for in-depth explorations. As time progressed, his palate evolved, yet he still holds a deep appreciation for the bold flavors of IPAs and occasionally indulges in the delightful crispness of hoppy lagers.
Ed’s serendipitous encounter with Nate and Jeff unfolded amidst the vibrant ambiance of a gathering called “Bloggers and Lagers,” a haven for aficionados of all things craft beer. Drawn by his profound fondness for stickers, he initiated a conversation with this dynamic duo, and thus began an exciting journey. At the time, Ed was at the helm of a captivating craft beer blog christened “Barley Legible,” a platform where his love for the intricate world of craft brews was manifest.
Soon, Ed’s magnetic presence and engaging discussions saw him transition from a guest host to a cornerstone of the show, gracing multiple episodes with his unique insights and infectious energy. As destiny would have it, this initial involvement solidified into a permanent, integral role within the podcast. Now adorned with the esteemed title of the show’s editor, Ed seamlessly orchestrates and refines each episode, ensuring a flawless auditory experience for listeners. Additionally, he skillfully architected and now diligently maintains the show’s very own recording sanctuary—a testament to his dedication and passion for the craft. Not to be overlooked is Ed’s discerning palate, which finds immense delight in the satisfying embrace of a well-crafted, hoppy lager, truly adding to the multifaceted charm he brings to the team.
My love for all things beer-related has been a lifelong affair. It hit its peak in the mid-90s when my fascination with craft beer and refined beverages took flight. During this time, I delved into beer history and the art of home brewing, absorbing knowledge about various components, styles, and adjuncts. Home brewing became the catalyst for my beer connoisseurship. Understanding the intricacies fueled my desire to experience a plethora of exceptional beers.
Then, I crossed paths with Chris. Our shared passion for craft beer became the cornerstone of our friendship. We frequented beer fests, engaged in bottle shares, experimented with brewing, and had lengthy conversations about beer—all while savoring the taste of different brews. Today, we’ve translated this camaraderie into a podcast; although, back then, we simply called it “Saturday.”
